One Ocean Forum: in Milan the first international event.

Guidi has participated in this event dedicated to the sea, its ecosystem and sustainability projects.

One Ocean Forum is the international event of the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, specially requested for by Princess Zahra Aga Khan and was born as a moment of sharing, cooperation and awareness raising. The Forum took place at the Teatro Franco Parenti in Milan on 3rd and 4th October 2017.

The aim

To open an international dialogue on the sea subject. This document is the beginning of a global awareness raising process to safeguard the marine ecosystem.

The call for action

The creation of an ethical code to share principles and actions for the protection of the seas: the Charta Smeralda.

The action

Promoting individual and collective actions is now needed because of the many issues to be addressed:

  • oceanic acidification
  • pollution
  • global warming
  • invasive mining processes
  • spills of chemicals
  • natural phenomena
  • subsidence
  • microplasticism
  • illegal fishing…

SDGs 2030

The sustainable use of the oceans is also part of the agenda that looks to the year 2030. According to the United Nations objectives, launched at the June Conference of the Ocean, objectives have been set for the achievement of  Sustainable Development Goal 14.

Goal 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources.

On stage

On the stage of the Forum there were well-known people linked to the sea, as the American sailor Paul Cayard, the world record holder in free immersion Davide Carrera, the explorer Paul Rose, the Franco-American artist Anne de Carbuccia.

The signatures

The Forum ended with the signing of Charta Smeralda by Princess Zahra and Commodore of the Costa Smeralda Yacht Club, Riccardo Bonadeo.
